Antigone

In Antigone, one of the oldest plays in Western Literary, a young woman, Princess Antigone, stands up for her beliefs against the authority of her uncle, King Creon, with tragedy ensuing. Sophocles ancient story retold with modern relevance by playwright Jean Anouilh debates the importance of moral versus civil law; the importance of the youth being the catalyst for generational change; and the importance of being yourself against the forces of conformity. Bellarmine's production of this Greek tragedy will be set in an unspecified modern time and performed in the round in Bellarmine's Black Box theater.

The performance will be in the Black Box Theatre inside Sobrato Theatre. While our street address is 960 W. Hedding St., San Jose, CA 95126, parking in the Hedding St. lot is extremely limited due to construction. For parking, we strongly suggest using the free soccer field lot on the north side of Hedding and walk under Hedding Street, use our free parking garage located at the opposite end of campus at 795 Stockton Street or parking in the residential neighborhood to the west and south of campus. To find the theatre, walk into the Quad in the center of campus. Sobrato Theatre is the tallest building on the Quad facing the pool. The lobby opens at 6:30 pm for 7:00 pm performances and at 1:30 pm for the 2:00 pm performance.

To enter the theatre, you will need to show the ticket with QR code sent to the email you supply within minutes of purchasing your ticket(s) or the paper equivalent you print out. All seat purchases are final with no refunds or performance exchanges allowed. There are no masking requirements in the theatre. Note that smoking is not allowed on the campus, and food, drink other than water, and pets are not allowed in the theater. There are wheelchair accessible seats available for each performance.
